(BEIJING, June 8) -- To make sure Beijing's medical system is seriously preparing for the 2008 Olympic Games, a leading official checked the Olympic training on Thursday.
Zhu Shanlu, a member of the Standing Committee of the city's CPC (Communist Party of China) committee and head of the coordination group for the city's Olympic training, made a stop at Tiantan Hospital, a designated hospital for the Olympics, and made in-depth inquiries about how its medical staff is going through the training.
He was satisfied when he heard standard English pronounced by the nurses at a neurology ward. At the department's image transmission room, doctors were seen conducting remote consultation with the specialists of Shenyang City. The remote transmission apparatus will be widely used in the 2008 Olympic Games to upgrade the medical services, Zhu was told. Later he visited the Beijing Disease Prevention and Control Center, where he obtained first-hand information about how medical personnel deal with emergency cases and how they properly operate and maintain their medical devices and computers. He also heard a report on citywide Olympic training in the Beijing First Aid Center and other hospitals. Giving a thumbs-up to the medical facilities' achievements in Olympic training, Zhu said their experience is worth passing on to cover the urban medical system at large.
